Issue Two of PARRTY is here!
It is with great excitement that we share Issue two of PARRTY, created by Kate Hodgson in collaboration with fifteen girls and young women living in Parr, St Helens. This vibrant zine responds to the themes raised in the series' premier edition, which we launched last summer.
PARRTY's second iteration was eight months in the making, and was carefully crafted over many meetings between Kate and PARRTY's creative committee of fifteen girls and young women. These meetings were primarily used as space to explore the committee's interests, ideas and experiences of living and growing up in and around Parr. And these conversations sparked artworks, notes and doodles, which were collected to form this beautiful zine.
Three-hundred copies have been printed using a risograph printing process and will be shared with the group members friends, family and local community.
PARRTY has been commissioned by Heart of Glass with support by Paul Hamlyn Foundation as part of The Young Hearts programme. Young Hearts is about creating a safe and welcoming space for young women to learn together, share their stories, and to develop their creativity.
PARRTY has been developed in partnership with Craftspace with the Zines and Artworks created by the group presented as part of We Are Commoners, a national Craftspace touring exhibition.
