As part of the Schools and Colleges Programme (2018-2019), in partnership with St Helens LCEP, we produced a number of schools resources that provide ideas for how to build cardboard castles and create animations - you can access a downloadable resource and four instructive videos on this page.
Castle building creates the opportunity to make cross-curricular links, including literacy and numeracy. This can be embedded in all stages of the project from planning to completion.
Building, making and thinking using cardboard and other found objects is a great way to talk about recycling, reimagining and repurposing materials found in our daily lives.
The cardboard castles range from tiny ant-size to huge outdoor creations that the whole school can be involved with. Use the films below for support - they demonstrate how simple and effective structures can be built with easily accessible materials and your imagination.
