Accountability Agreement
At Heart of Glass, we believe in treating everyone with fairness and respect. We want to make sure everyone feels included and valued.
This is our promise about fairness and helping people who work with us feel supported and safe. This promise is for everyone in the Heart of Glass team and anyone working on our projects, including artists, organisations and funders. We share this with everyone we work with.
We promise to stand against all types of discrimination. Discrimination means treating people unfairly and differently from others.
It is against the law to discriminate against anyone because of:
age
gender reassignment
being married or in a civil partnership
being pregnant or on maternity leave
disability
race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin
religion or belief
sex
sexual orientation
These are called ‘protected characteristics’. Other forms of discrimination do exist, for example socio economic and class related discrimination.
Respecting one another
If someone behaves in a way that's not respectful, we'll talk about it. In serious cases, we might need to stop working together.
Here are some things we can do together:
Notice our privilege and how this impacts on other people (privilege means having special rights or advantages that other people do not have)
Respect everyone’s boundaries (boundaries mean the limits of what we are comfortable with doing or saying). Everyone’s boundaries are different. For example you might not feel comfortable getting a hug from someone you work with, or talking about your home life in the office
Try to speak up if we notice that somebody does or says something that doesn’t feel right
Try not to make assumptions about others (assumptions are making guesses about someone based on how they look, talk or act, for example)
Listen to what others have to say (and wait for someone to finish what they have to say before you respond)
Remember, we're all learning and growing. If someone does or says something that isn't quite right, we can all use it as a chance to learn and do better next time.
