Sam Best
Sam Best is an avid historian with a passion for preserving and sharing local heritage. Sam manages the social media account @HalewoodHistory, where she researches and shares content about the rich history of Halewood. Her contributions to local history projects include Knowsley Council's Every Town and Village Tells a Story, for which she researched and authored pieces on Halewood's art and culture as part of Knowsley's Borough of Culture year in 2022.
Sam's involvement in community-based history projects has further strengthened her commitment to local storytelling. As a volunteer researcher for Giz a Job, she contributed to documenting Liverpool’s historical response to unemployment and the 1981 People's March for Jobs. Additionally, in collaboration with Heart of Glass, she has served as a Heritage Consultant for Following the Roots: Stories of Halewood and as a Heritage Assistant for Strong Women of Knowsley, projects that amplified local voices and honoured the contributions of Knowsley’s residents, past and present.
In 2024 Sam was awarded an MA in history with Distinction. Her dissertation was title Saving the Ceiriog Valley: An Analysis of the defeat of the Warrington Water Bill, 1923.
